Join us in our AyurYoga Retreat in the outstanding Algarve Coast

Algarve

The Algarve is the southern part of Portugal and is well known for its stunning coastline, warm climate, golden-sand beaches, and dramatic cliffs. The selection of impressive beaches is enormous, which we will discover through excursions and Yoga sessions. The countryside of the Algarve is characterised by rolling hills, traditional villages, and rugged natural landscapes away from the coast, such as Monchique, Loulé, Silves, Barão de São João and Aljezur. Further away, we have the Vicentine Coast, with an amazing Natural Park well known for hiking and beautiful, secluded beaches.

Lagos is one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve and has a unique charm, with its old town, narrow streets, tiled floors and buildings and a vibrant, lively atmosphere. It has a breathtaking natural beauty, especially its stunning beaches and dramatic coastal cliffs. This mix offers a diverse experience for visitors, combining historical exploration and cultural immersion with relaxing and adventurous coastal activities.

Over the years, many people from other parts of the world have immigrated to Lagos and its surroundings, which makes it very cosmopolitan. Lagos is a blessed sunny city; we can look forward to 300 sunny days a year!

Find your inner peace
and balance your life

AyurYoga Retreats

The focus of the “AyurYoga Retreat” is to help you step back from your daily routine, leave the stress behind, reconnect with yourself, harmonise with nature, and bring body, mind, and soul into balance. We will immerse ourselves in Ayurveda principles, open our minds to learning and experiencing, and adapt the Ayurveda Lifestyle to some extent to our environment. The combination of Ayurveda-conscious and nourishing meals, Yoga, Pranayama, Walking Yoga, and Meditation will help you regenerate, vitalise, rejuvenate, and find your middle!

We see ourselves as part of the nature we aim to connect with, which is why our Yoga classes take place in beautiful surroundings. We will practice in natural settings such as parks, forests, and beaches. Yoga in nature offers benefits such as fresh air, natural sounds, closeness to the five elements, and the inspiration of the animal yoga asanas, promoting a deeper connection with both the body and the earth.

We want you to leave feeling inspired and motivated, ready to go back home with renewed energy and purpose!

Be in the present, Be aware,
Be gounded, Be grateful

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian healing medicine that literally means “knowledge of life,” focusing on balancing body, mind, and spirit in harmony with nature! The three fundamental bio-energetic forces (Doshas), Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, rule all physical and mental processes in our body. An imbalance of the Doshas can lead to sickness and disease. Ayurveda considers the person as a whole and aims to activate the body’s self-healing powers. The goal is to promote good health and well-being rather than just fighting disease. Central components of the treatment include a type-specific diet, herbal medicine, cleansing techniques, therapeutic massage, Yoga, and Meditation.

In 2012, I immersed myself in the world of Ayurveda, with a particular interest in general well-being and the health benefits of proper nutrition.
I became an Ayurveda chef, cooking vegetarian/vegan food in line with Ayurveda principles for Retreats and at my restaurant (Lalitana Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant) in Lagos from 2016 to 2020. Today, with my knowledge and experience, I offer private coaching to help people lead healthy, harmonious lifestyles in harmony with nature, guided by Ayurvedic principles and organise the “AyurYoga Retreats” with Love!

What we will do

Traditional Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation

Traditional Hatha Yoga is a comprehensive system that uses physical postures (asanas), controlled breathing (Pranayama), and Meditation. The goal is to balance the body’s vital energies, calm and still the body and mind through a combination of physical and mental practices. Traditional Hatha is a blend of holding poses (asanas) to foster a deep connection with the body and spine. In our sessions, we also practice a mixture of dynamic, flowing asanas.

We start the Yoga session with Pranayama to bring awareness to the natural rhythm of the breath, noticing the sensation of each inhale and exhale, helping to centre and prepare for the physical asanas. And we end with Meditation, which increases feelings of calm, happiness, and empathy while lowering stress and anxiety. It can also help boost energy levels, leaving you feeling renewed rather than exhausted. Modern classes often focus on asanas, but traditional practice is a complete discipline that includes cleansing techniques (Shatkarma), which we will bring close to you. The combination of Ayurveda-conscious meals, lifestyle, and our yoga program aims to help you reset your Life and maybe continue this lifestyle!

Let Nature guide you back
to stillness and connection

Walking-Yoga

Walking Yoga is a class where we strongly connect with Mother Nature. We first do a standing Meditation to unite our body with the earth. Then we begin with active Pranayama to open the chest and lungs, and then proceed with a sequence of mindfulness Asanas to awaken the body. After that, we walk in silence through nature, observing, listening, and smelling! We start with a sequence of animal postures — walking or standing. They can be combined into restorative and physically demanding sequences, into slow and deep practices, or into flowing repetitions.

Embodying this posture encourages you to be present in the moment, rather than worrying about the past or future.

These physical exercises will release endorphins, improve your mood, and mastering these challenging poses can boost self-esteem and confidence. Be free to take part in our unforgettable Walking Yoga adventure!

Our Yoga Classes take place in

Peaceful, Beautiful, Natural Surroundings

Mindful Ayurveda Cooking Courses

Ayurvedic food is not just a diet; it is a Lifestyle you can integrate into your Life. In our cooking courses, we will teach you the importance of spices and the six fundamental tastes (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent), and how they influence the Doshas and contribute to overall well-being. We will also show you how to cook a European meal that incorporates the six tastes according to Ayurveda. Our ingredients and vegetables are organic, and we use only local, seasonal produce.

In Ayurveda, each spice has specific properties that balance the three Doshas — vata, pitta, and kapha — which govern all physiological and psychological functions in the body. The Ayurveda spices can support digestion (agni) and help eliminate toxins (ama). They also have Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant effects. They boost immunity, balance Metabolism and mental Well-being, reduce stress, boost mood, and promote overall wellness when used mindfully. We also demonstrate the importance of Ayurveda in establishing eating routines, including awareness of the five senses and mindful eating, whether alone or with your family.
